Doctor Who stars and on-screen duo, David Tennant and Catherine Tate star in this epic love story of two contrasting couples drawn apart by ill fate and later re-engaged in matrimony, a play that defines William Shakespeare at his ultimate peak in this witty yet compelling tale.
Much Ado About Nothing tells the tale of Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero, both couples who are completely opposite in their proclamation of love for each other and willingness to be together. Benedick and Beatrice are quick to deny any existence of love for one another and go a fair distance to suggest there is no chemistry whatsoever. Claudio and Hero, on the other hand, are besotted by each other and head over heels in love at such a young and innocent age. However, through means of trickery and deceit, Benedick and Beatrice are led to confess their love for each other whilst Claudio is unknowingly trapped into rejecting Hero at the altar. Yet this tale promotes the traditional idea that true love is destined to be as Constable Dogberry, a master of malapropisms, discovers that this is all the evil minded plan of the villain, bastard Don John. Inevitably, Don John is captured and celebrations take place as everybody rejoices for the marriages of Benedick and Beatrice, and Claudio and Hero.
Much Ado About Nothing starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate is playing at Wyndhams Theatre from 16th May 2011 until 3rd September 2011.
